Tasker is a simple,free app for Android which is quite impressing and captured my attention through the astonishing possibilities it can open up. It automatically executes various sets of instructions depending on the context you define: the day, month, time, event or any other information you choose.

Basically Tasker is able to do absolutely anything, but so that you understand, just let me give you a few example. With Tasker, your Android phone can:

- automatically play your favorite tune when you plug in the headphones.
- send SMS on your friend’s birthday- configure WiFi to be automatically turned on in locations where WiFi networks are available. In these situations your 3G signal can be turned off, saving you a lot of battery power!

These just a few example, but depending on the conext you chose, the trigger and the action, Tasker can configure your Android smartphone to complete almost any task and this will help you save a lot of time and organise your life more easily!

Tasker 1.1.1 has just been released in  Oktober, it costs 6 USD and it is totally worth the money. Besides this, developers are looking forward to add other features and make it even more impressing. The app can be downloaded from the Android Market, free 7 day trials are available in case you want to test the app before buying it.

JSPA Program Manager is a light freeware  program that allows you to easily manage the shortcut files in your Windows Mobile 6/6.5 start menu. The application has several useful options: Navigate, Move, Copy, Rename, Delete, Create New Folder and Create New Shortcut.

The user interface is simple, based on a split-screen design: in the left side you have the “Source” and in the right side you have the “Destination”. For instance, if you want to move a program shortcut to a specific folder in your start menu, just tick the checkbox of the respective shortcut in the left side, tick the checkbox of the target folder in the left side and then select the desired action. This couldn’t be easier.

You may wonder what use would have such an application, and my answer is that this little tool is not only very useful, but a must-have program. As you install programs on your touchphone, your start menu will become saturated of shortcuts, will have scrolling lags and it will be more difficult for you to identify a program. JSPA Program Manager helps you easily clean that mess and arrange the start menu in your own way.

Showcase Task Manager is a popular mobile task managing software, entirely free, with a cool finger-friendly interface, which lets you easily manage your running applications by closing and switching between them using on-screen finger gestures (or swipes) . This application can replace ( if set) the default task manager, so you will have a  different behaviour on the X/OK button from the top-right corner of the screen. Let’s say that this behaviour is simply better than the default behaviour.

Though it still lacks some tiny features ( like transparent/semitransparent backgrounds), I do like this application and I’m using it for 3 main reasons: it’s light, it consumes a very small amount of RAM and the finger gestures are very comfortable. Also, you should know that the default task manager of your device ( HTC Task Manager) is in fact an application that eats lots of system resources. This is why many ROM cookers prefer to take it out and replace it with other task managers. For my device I have chosen to flash a ROM without HTC Task Manager or any other task manager and simply install Showcase Task Manager.

Please note that this software is only compatible with Windows Mobile 6.5 devices.
