Many of you probably wanted to ask this question at least once: can I connect my PC to the internet through the an Android Phone’s GPRS/EDGE connection?

The answer is yes and it’s pretty simple. Some clever guy came up with this really cool Android software, called PdaNet. PdaNet needs to be installed on your PC and on your Android Phone, after that it allows you to connect the PC to your phone’s GPRS/EDGE network.

This is pretty cool, as specially for those of you who travel a lot. When you’re on a train ride, you can always pull your laptop out and start browsing internet pages, reading news and writing emails.

We can consider Opera Mobile 10 the elder brother of Opera Mini 5, as they look very similar in the latest versions.  However, there are several important differences between them, like the fact that Opera Mini operates by using servers to shrink web pages, while Opera Mobile does a full-direct browsing. To conclude in this matter, Opera Mini is more suitable for medium-performance devices, and Opera Mobile works on its full potential on latest-generation touchphones. It’s good however to have them both installed on your phone.

Opera Mini 5 is undoubtedly the fastest mobile browser ever created. Despite the fact that it is fully written in java, this browser brings on your htc phone a full speed browsing experience. The secret behind it’s speed is that Opera Mini uses worldwide servers to compress the data before sending it to your phone, and as result it significantly reduces the amount of traffic, an important aspect if you are on a limited data plan.

To enjoy this browser you gonna need a java platform installed on your htc, if your device didn’t came with a preinstalled one ( some of the freeware java platforms available for windows mobile are Esmertec Jbed, Jblend and Jeodek).

As a HTC touchphone owner I must say that I’m using Opera Mini daily, especially when I’m on the run and I need to rapidly access a website or my mail account.
